Mountain Biking Opportunities
Perhaps the most common off-road biking track in Northern Majorca is from Puerto Pollensa to the Lluc Monastery. This route is incredibly hilly and can be challenging, but the views from the top are spectacular. If you don’t mind traveling a short distance for a great ride, there are some remarkable bike routes in Port de Soller that head through the mountains.
Road Cycling Opportunities
The most popular cycling routes in the area are along the coast between Puerto Pollensa and other coastal destinations like Alcudia or Crestatx. These paths are free from cars and meant specifically for cyclists and pedestrians, which means that you won’t have to struggle with traffic. These coastal routes are primarily flat, and even complete beginners can tackle them with no problems. The best time of day to ride along here is just after sunrise, when the beaches are empty and so is the path.
Tips to Keep in Mind
Remember that cycling in Majorca requires plenty of hydration. Even if you normally do without water, bring some along on even the shortest rides. If you are visiting during the summer and you want to ensure a specific type of bike, consider reserving it in advance. Some of the popular bikes sell out quickly.
