The Formentor hotel could be classed as the jewel in the crown of the pre world war 2 era. The whole area including the beach and offshore island was purchased by an Argentinian businessman in the 1920′s and still remains private property to this day. From 1929 the hotel has been host to a number of well known names including Grace Kelly, John Wayne, Dalia Lama and Winston Churchhill. This is a 5 star hotel.
