If you are a keen walker and have started off in Port de Pollenca by being cautious and only undertaking short walks because of the sun and very high temperature, here is your chance to try something much more strenuous.

A walk over the mountains to Cala San Vicente. Yes it can be done. We have walked there, but it was for us a one off journey, not to be repeated. We cannot imagine doing it again.

The route is as follows. From the main roundabout in Puerto Pollensa, walk in the direction of the old town of Pollenca . After about a half hour walk, you will see the Habitat Apartments ahead.

Turn to your right at Habitat and you will find a rough track (you may have to ask), which will lead you right over the mountains into the bay and the small town of Cala San Viicente. The journey ends virtually right on the beach. I think it took us about two hours to reach this point.

After a rest and perhaps even a swim, you can start back on the same route home to Port de Pollenca.

Instead of walking back–you could of course be lazy and take a bus or a taxi home.

Remember to take great care in walking over the mountain track, as you do not want to become lost or suffer an injury.
